Our team name has a very interesting and long story. In the beginning, we struggled to settle on a name. We went through names such as Squiggly Sunshines, Squamous Boblyns, Squiggly Boblyns, OPE, Tower Robotics, and about every other combination you could make from those words. We wanted it to be funny and serious at the same time. To our amusement, it was very hard to satisfy both parameters. We experienced many different opinions, but we then decided on Tower Robotics. We then got a catchphrase, "OPE". An acronym that stands for operation perfectly executed (thank you Matthew Taylor for that).
During school one day, a teacher named Mr. Nemaric went around to all the high school classes and showed us all a cringe video for FIRST Robotics. No one knew what it was or what we would really be getting into. Mr. Nemaric said that you would be able to do whatever you wanted through FIRST Robotics.Â
In the end, ten of us were hooked. We went to the after-school meeting and began to learn more about what we were doing. We all went in with zero experience in anything and came out excited for the years to come. We came out with knowledge, awards, memories, and joy. We were all highly invested and already planning for the future. Ideas came up in every car ride. It was fun and a huge learning experience. Simply put, it was awesome.
Thank you Martin Nemaric for making all this possible. To bring this to our school to get us involved. You gave us all the power and instead of taking over you had us do all the building and only stepped in when we needed help. You taught us and helped us. You are probably the best guy we could have asked for and you really stepped to the plate. Thank you.
Now, we have a class during the school day that has the majority of the current team in attendance. Our team, as of 2024, has a total of thirteen members.
